Graded PSA Authentic (Altered). It appears as though the offered 1933 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth card was cleaned in some way that caused the "altered" designation. Regardless of what was done, it has left us with a pleasingly colorful, and very well-centered, example of the sought after Ruth relic. Also accompanying the card is a June 8, 1992, letter on Sports Collectors Digest letterhead signed by Bob Lemke. The letter is a fascinating glimpse into the world of card collecting 30 years ago. The letter serves as authentication for the card and reads, in part "After microscopic, weight and black light analysis, I found nothing to indicate the card was not genuine." Ah, the "good" old days.
