1934 Chicago “Century of Progress” World's Fair “Boy's League Base Ball” In Original Pictorial Box

In 1933 and 1934, Chicago hosted the "Century of Progress International Exposition," also known as the Chicago World's Fair. The fair celebrated Chicago's Centennial, and saw visitors from all over the world during it's 16-month long run. Offered is a rare, baseball-related souvenir from the Chicago World's Fair, complete with its original pictorial box. The "Boys League" brand baseball was produced by Paramount Manufacturing Co. in Chicago and cost 50¢, a princely sum during the depths of the Great Depression. Each panel of the box is printed in blue and metallic silver ink, and displays the "Century of Progress" logo or an image of a young ball player. The ball, too, is printed with the fair logo, and a young, previous owner has scrawled in his own name on a side panel. The box measures 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 inches and the ball is standard size. The box and ball present with minimal wear. The box has some toning in the light areas. Excellent condition overall.
