Offered are four pieces of "Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation" letterhead with scripts that Elvis Presley read as "thank yous" for various people while he was filming Love Me Tender in 1956. In a classic Colonel Parker "production", Elvis read these thank you messages into Parker's newly acquired tape recorder, and the tapes were then delivered to the various recipients--a fairly impressive gesture for the time! The sheets emanate directly from Graceland, and were offered as lot "A69" in the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction held in Las Vegas. They are still in their original matted display from the auction, with its original lot tag and a very clean copy of a 1956 "Elvis Presley Souvenir Photo Album."

The audio missives cover a LOT of ground and include:

  • Thank you message and a bit of singing to RCA Chief David Sarnoff, referred to as "General Sarnoff" in the message. Elvis apologizes for missing the Sarnoff's 50th anniversary party while filming Love Me Tender, and closes with a "Happy Anniversary" song and a verse of "Love Me Tender" for Mrs. Sarnoff;
  • Thank you message to DJ. Art Laboe, honorary president of the Elvis Presley Fan Club of Los Angeles and one of the few “disc jockeys” to secure an interview with Elvis in 1956;
  • Thank you message to "Mr. Marshall", from New York, where Elvis mentions "Hope to see you while I'm in New York October 28 for The Ed Sullivan Show;
  • What amounts to a commercial for "Bill Williams Restaurants".

Where are these tapes?!?! The letters represent a unique view into the mind and genius of Colonel Parker, constantly maintaining the key professional relationships that will help move along the career of his client Elvis Presley. Accompanied by the original 1999 Graceland Auctions certificate of authenticity. Near Mint condition.
