Offered is a Nady 700 Series Wireless Microphone System Used by Axl Rose during some of his earliest Los Angeles concerts with Guns N' Roses and his previous band, L.A. Guns. During that period, the microphone was owned by Los Angeles 1980's music scene regular, Raz Cue. Cue is the one who bought the offered microphone system and touring case right after Axl joined L.A. Guns in 1984. His recollection of the events are as follows:
I am Raz Cue, my birth name is Rached Zaouk. In the summer of 1984, I was manager/investor for L.A. Guns, when Tracii Guns and I recruited Axl Rose to join the band. Shortly after Axl Rose became L.A. Guns' lead singer, we went to Nadine's Music on the corner of Vine and Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles, California. There I purchased PA equipment, which included a Nady 700 Series Wireless Microphone System (serial #27341126), and an Anvil case (serial #A276463), as well as other items. The Nady wireless system, was used by Axl Rose for all L.A. Guns performances while he was a member. In March of 1985, after Guns N' Roses formed in my living room, Axl Rose continued using the Nady Wireless Microphone System for most Guns N' Roses Southern California performances. During that period, I also rented out the Nady Wireless Microphone System to scores of local headliners. In the spring of 1986, I traded the Nady Wireless Microphone System to Sam Mann for a 1972 Buick LeSabre. It was a sweet car! Sam Mann has owned the offered microphone system for more than 35 years. His memory of acquiring the microphone from Raz:
In early summer 1984 Tracii Guns responded to an ad for drum risers I was selling via The Recycler classified ad magazine. Tracii Guns arrived at my warehouse in Frogtown (east side of Chavez Ravine and Silverlake, CA) early, and told me that his band, L.A. Guns’ financier/manager would arrive with the payment. Raz Cue arrived in a convertible Pontiac Turbo and attempted to negotiate my already low, firm price. I said no. From that time on I became friends with Raz. Tracii, not so much.
Within a month, Axl Rose had been recruited into L.A. Guns. I attended the lions’ share of L.A. Guns shows while they were a club band, as well as more than half of the Guns N’ Roses gigs. Axl Rose used the Nady mic for most of the Guns N' Roses gigs during the development and performance of the Appetite For Destruction material in Los Angeles. During the period of 1984-87, Raz Cue often let me use the Nady microphone for my own band, Sam Mann and Thee Apes, when GNR wasn’t using it. Guns N' Roses left Los Angeles to become mega stars, so Raz Cue decided to get out of the music business and liquidate all of his music equipment. He gave me first crack at the Nady. I ended up with the Nady and West Arkeen as guitarist in my band. West Arkeen is known for being a song writing collaborator with GNR and is referred to as "GNR #6" on Appetite For Destruction. Axl nominated West to be the 3rd guitarist in GNR. West being in my band at the time that GNR were becoming the biggest band in the world made for some interesting live shows, and West and I becoming traveling buddies while touring. From 1987 to 1993, I was the MC for the essential showcase at The Whisky a Go Go called "The No Bozo Jam". I used the Nady wireless microphone every Monday night when The Whisky A Go Go was the place to be on Monday nights.
The offered microphone was in Axl Rose's hand on stage during the most seminal period of Guns N' Roses career. It was with this microphone being used by Rose that the band gelled on stage, became the band that is credited with changing the very face of hard rock, one of the most important and influetial bands in rock and roll history. The microphone is accompanied by the Anvil touring case and presents in working condition.
