Offered is a touching collection of seven fan letters from Elvis Presley (and a heartfelt response never sent by the fan). Of course these were either pre-printed or written and signed by secretaries at Graceland, but they were thoughtful responses to thoughtful letters and gifts from a young fan in New Orleans in 1959 and 1960. The handwritten letter from the fan to Elvis, most-likely written in 1961, is a rather scathing admonishment of Elvis for not thanking her for the necktie she sent him for Christmas. Take a second to read it-it's touching, and it's tone is a firm indication that fans really believed Elvis was responding to them when they received the responses to their letters. The secretaries at Graceland took the time to make sure the letters were thoughtful. The group includes:

  • U.S. Army Fan Response Letter with facsimile Elvis Signature, with original envelope dated “Aug 10 1959”;
  • June 3, 1960 Handwritten letter with original envelope (secretarial),
  • July 21, 1960 Handwritten and signed letter from Graceland Secretary Pat Boyd, with original envelope;
  • September 12, 1960 Handwritten and signed letter and original envelope (secretarial);
  • September 27, 1960 printed fan letter with “Lynne” written in referencing Flaming Star with original envelope (facsimile signature);
  • October 19, 1960 handwritten and signed letter with original envelope (secretarial);
  • December 3, 1960 handwritten and signed letter and original envelope (secretarial); and
  • handwritten letter from Lynne to Elvis (circa 1961).

The Army letter has a tear at one fold. Envelopes all show expected wear from handling and mailing. Excellent condition overall, with some lesser.
