Broadway Joe and the Chairman of the Board. During any number of nights during the prime of Joe Namath's career in the late 1960s and early 1970s he could be found drinking with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. at Jilly's nightclub in New York. The two rubbed elbows at many events in the 1970s. The offered New York Jets team jacket was given by Namath to Sinatra at some point in the early 1980s. The jacket emanates from the Sinatra estate and was sold at auction years ago. "Aladen Athletic Wear Corp." of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey did make jackets for the Jets in that period, in addition to Champion, and the logo style was used by the team starting in the late 1970s. The jacket is a size 42 and not cut for player use, which makes sense for Namath during the period, which was early in his retirement. "JOE" and "12," Namath's number, are written in marker on the tag. The jacket is accompanied by noted professional sports jersey and equipment expert Lou Lampson, who purchased the jacket from the Sinatra estate auction more than 20 years ago. The jacket shows signs of moderate use, but presents with no major distresses. Excellent condition.
