Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Evis Presley's 1972 live LP Elvis as Recorded at Madison Square Garden. Elvis’ performances at Madison Square Garden in New York City in June of 1972 were some of his most momentous, considering not only the importance of the venue and the success of the concerts, but the fact that they were his first live performances in New York since the 1950s. The shows provided the performances for the live LP. The first three shows sold out immediately, a first in Madison Square Garden history, prompting the addition of a fourth. Each show was attended by over 20,000 fans, making it more than 80,000 fans over the course of the weekend who enjoyed a set list consisting of his early hits, fan favorites from his movies, new hits and other songs that included “American Trilogy,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “That’s All Right,” “Suspicious Minds,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Proud Mary” and many more. The LP was certified gold on August 4, 1972, just two months after its debut. The offered early white linen matte style award was produced at that time.. The award measures 17 x 21 1/2 inches and presents with only very minor wear to the wooden frame and some toning in the white matte area. Near Mint condition.
