Offered is a 1940 first edition of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter signed by author Carson McCullers. She signed and inscribed "To Gray N. Taylor from Carson McCullers with thanks for a wonderful vacation at the Inn." McCullers signed copies of her first novel are exceedingly rare, as is any autograph from the writer's whose life was tragically cut short in 1967 by a brain hemorrhage. Accompanied by a LOA from James Spence Authentication. Missing the original dust jacket but in very well-preserved shape. Excellent condition.
