Offered is a 1956 35mm contact sheet of photographs by Albert Wertheimer of Elvis Presley during his famous July 2, 1956, RCA recording session that produced "Hound Dog", "Don't Be Cruel" and "Any Way You Want Me." Wertheimer hung with Elvis for several days for The Steve Allen Show, this recording session and the trip home to Memphis afterwards. By chance Colonel Parker was not around as much for the RCA day, allowing Wertheimer to capture some of the most iconic images of the nascent superstar during an absolutely seminal recording session. Six of the shots capture fans waiting outside the RCA offices with signs for Elvis. The previous and next lots are also Wertheimer period contact sheets that record The Steve Allen Show and the time in Memphis, respectively. The offered sheet measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with period "ALFRED WERTHEIMER" and "TOPIX" news photo service stampings on the reverse. Near Mint condition.
