The offered three-sheet movie poster is eclipsed by the image of a shirtless Elvis, this time on horseback, that dominated most of the marketing pieces promoting the film. None of the posters for Flaming Star, however, have the visual impact of this artifact’s oversized artwork.
Flaming Star is a 1960s Western starring Elvis Presley as Pacer Burton, son to a Kiowa mother and a Texan father. Elvis finds his character caught in the middle of a battle between the Kiowa and local Texan homesteaders where he hails from both sides but belongs to neither. A still of Elvis from this film was immortalized by Andy Warhol when he created his iconic artwork of the King, which has sold for millions! Reaching number 12 at the box office, critics generally consider this to be one of Elvis’ best acting performances. The poster, which is stored folded, measures 81 by 41 inches. The bottom section suffers from several areas of separation at the original factory folds. Very Good to Excellent condition.
