Elvis was known for his voracious reading of spiritual and religious material and one of Elvis’ favorite books was The Prophet, by Lebanese-American writer and philosopher Kahlil Gibran. Originally published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1923, the popularity of the book steadily increased over the years, with the millionth copy sold in 1957. The offered copy was given to Elvis' friend Aurelia (DuPont) Yarbrough and comes with her letter of authenticity from which reads in part:

Elvis spent numerous hours reading, and underlining important passages in some of his philosophical and spiritual books. This book was one of his favorites, and he spent many hours analyzing it's [sic] content and meaning. He gave it to me to study, in order to gain insight into various teachings and beliefs. This book has been in my possession since Elvis gave it to me in 1977.

While this copy of The Prophet contains no interior marks, it does have several dogeared pages, and it does retain its original dust jacket. The Prophet, a book of poetry, prose and fables, measures 8 1/4 by 5 3/4 by 5/8 inches and presents with mild, even toning on its pages and several small areas of paper loss on the dust jacket. Near Mint condition, with the dust jacket lesser.
