Offered is an Elvis Presley Screen Worn Blue Neck Tie from MGM's 1967 film Double Trouble. In the film, Elvis plays Guy Lambert, a singer touring Europe who finds himself in a mix of jewel thieves, women in pursuit and a murderer. Memphis Mafia Member Marty Lacker was with Elvis during the filming of Double Trouble, and he was given the tie by the MGM wardrobe manager.
The accompanying 2014 letter from Marty Lacker reads:
This is to state that I was with and close to Elvis Presley for twenty years and was his right hand man for a number of years and Co-Best Man at his wedding.
During a lunch break In 1966 when Elvis was making "Double Trouble" at MGM Studios we went to Colonel Parker's office to meet with famed actor, Lorne Green, of Bonanza, as Elvis decided to make a donation of his motor home to Lorne's charity for young boys. Elvis was still in his wardrobe for the film as lunch breaks were not very long. I had the pleasure of designing a few pieces of wardrobe for that movie with input by Elvis. There is a picture of that meeting in which he is wearing a dark blue, almost black tie under his gray jacket.
When the movie was finished, Lambert Marks who was in charge of wardrobe of many of Elvis MGM movies was kind enough to give me the tie as a thank you gift for my wardrobe designs. Because I did not work for MGM nor was I in the union covering wardrobe designers I was not given any screen credit for my work. I did those designs for Elvis not MGM. I have kept the tie for all these years and I decided to sell it to a worthwhile Elvis collector.
The tie shows signs of light wear and maintains its original care tagging, but has had the brand tag removed. Also accompanied by an original Press Book for the film. Near Mint condition.
