Offered is an Elvis Presley Stage Worn Hat Given to Him by a Fan in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1975. The hat is accompanied by a Photo of Elvis Wearing the hat on Stage. He later gave the hat to leader of his back up singing group, The Stamps, J.D. Sumner. Elvis bestowed a great many gifts on J.D. over their years together. The hat is accompanied by a two-page letter from J.D. Sumner's daughter, Shirley Sumner Enoch. The letter reads in part:

Over the years fans always loved to give Elvis gifts while he was performing. While in Jackson, Mississippi in 1975, a fan handed Elvis a genuine raffia hat made in Italy. Elvis playfully put it on his head while still singing and was photographed by a fan in the audience. Later that night, Elvis gifted the hat to his friend and confident, J.D. Sumner for J.D's "Elvis Tree". This tradition began some months into J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet touring with Elvis Presley. Elvis liked nothing better than to joke with, play tricks on, and generally have fun with and at the expense of J.D. because he knew J.D. would come back with the same fun. This is to certify that the above described "Raffia Hat" was worn by Elvis Presley, after receiving it from a fan during a 1975 show in Jackson, MS. Elvis had fun enjoying the gift with the audience. As Elvis often shared such gifts, he later bestowed the hat to J.D. Sumner which as custom, was taken back home to Nashville, TN and placed on the famous "Elvis Tree" for all to enjoy seeing the treasure.

The size "7 5/8" hat is stamped "Genuine Raffia Made in Italy" along the inner band. Near Mint condition.
