Offered is a set of 11 original photographs of Elvis Presley's estate, Graceland, taken on April 17, 19587, just weeks after he purchased the home and even before the iconic gates were installed! The photos were taken by a female fan walking around the grounds with her two friends after meeting Elvis' Uncle Travis Smith, Gladys Presley's brother and eventual longtime security guard at Graceland. They show several views of the front of the mansion, as well as the original garage in the back (one of which is notated neatly in pen on the front "Elvis garage"). One of the most intriguing photos shows one of the girls standing next to Elvis' mailbox! The photo is notated on the revers "April 17, 1957 Graceland Mailbox". The iconic Graceland gates had not even been installed yet--they would be delivered just five days later. One photo of the home is notated on the reverse "Graceland 1957", and another showing the girls and Travis is marked "Uncle Travis, Mary Kaye, Joann at Graceland April 57." The photos are printed on period Kodak "VELOX" paper and each measure 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. They present in stunning Near Mint to Mint condition.
