(Encapsulated PSA/DNA TYPE I) Offered is an original photograph of John Lennon wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt from Disney World, pictured with his love interest May Pang taken in Palm Beach, Florida, in 1974 during what is known as "The Lost Weekend." During an 18-month period from 1973 to 1975, John and Yoko Ono split, and during that time Lennon was romantically involved with Pang, Yoko's secretary. This photograph was taken by noted Kennedy photographer Bob Davidoff. For more than four decades, Davidoff photographed the Kennedy family on its winter sojourns in Palm Beach--his images of a youthful John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline, looking at ease and effortlessly glamorous, helped gild the image of the Kennedys as America's royal family. Bob's son Ken Davidoff was present when this shot of John Lennon (and the following lot) was taken. He remembers it clearly: "This was John's first time in Palm Beach--we got the assignment from The Palm Beach Daily News. I was supposed to shoot color slides, and my Dad would shoot the black and white for the paper. When we got there, John was poolside with his son Julian; they were just back from Disney World in Orlando for the first time, with a woman that neither my Father nor I could identify. 'Who is that, that's not Yoko, who is this woman with John that we can't identify?' (It was May Pang, Yoko's secretary) 'I don't know Dad, I've never seen this woman before.' We were so freaked out, we knew we had some special John Lennon Photos. We broke the story to People Magazine and, as it turns out, we were the ones to come up with the first photos of the event that John Lennon, and Beatle fans all over the world call 'The Lost Weekend'." The 5 x 7 inch photo is printed on period KODAK paper with Davidoff's notation on the reverse. Immaculate Near Mint to Mint condition.
