This group of five original photos were taken for the "Strobel Steel Construction Co." in 1928 and early 1929 to show the progress on the building of the legendary Chicago Stadium, which was completed later in 1929 at a cost of $9.5 million. The photos were taken between November and January while the steel skeleton of the Stadium was being assembled. The building was later dubbed "The Madhouse on Madison, and it saw the first NFL playoff game in 1932, the Bulls win 1992 NBA Championship, the Blackhawks win the 1934 and 1938 Stanley Cup finals, concerts as varied as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Frank Sinatra, and both a Democratic and Republican convention. Each photo measures 8 x 10 inches, but each has been mounted on heavy rag board from previous framing. All distresses would be easily hidden by proper framing. The image areas themselves are stunning, with original high gloss of the photographic paper, but the mounting and other issues require a technically Very Good to Excellent rating.
