The offered cream colored suit was owned by John Travolta and worn by him for the cover of the April 3, 1978, Time Magazine. The photoshoot for the cover and the article were covering the international sensation of Travolta in 1977 film Saturday Night Fever. The article features an additional four photos of Travolta showing off his disco moves from the film. He later donated the suit to the Hollywood resale shop "A Star is Worn," which specialized in reselling celebrity garments for charitable purposes. He has boldy signed the inside of the suit jacket, and both the jacket and the pants maintain their original "Salvatore" labels.

It's hard to describe exactly how big a phenomenon that Saturday Night Fever was in the late-1970s, and how significant a suit in which Travolta danced is to the collecting world! (Travolta's iconic three-piece white suit from the film sold for more than $140,000 in 1995!) The film significantly helped to popularize disco music around the world and made Travolta, already well known from his role on TV's Welcome Back, Kotter, a superstar; he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance. Paramount actually created a second, PG-rated version of the film that was released to attract younger fans who couldn't attend the R-rated version. The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, featuring disco songs by the Bee Gees, is one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time.

The suit is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity by noted collector and owner of the "Elvis Presley Museum" Jimmy Velvet, who purchased the suit from "A Star is Worn." The letter reads:

JOHN TRAVOLTA Personally Owned and Worn Two-Piece Cream Color Suit. This cream color suit by Salvatore, 142 E. 62nd St. NYC, NY was owend, worn and signed by John Travolta and was acquired from "A Star is Worn," on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, CA. They raised money for charity by receiving donated items from celebrities and part of the proceeds went to charity and the rest was used for maintaining the business. I happened to be visitign the owner of the store (Doug) the same day this suit was brought in and he mentioned John Travolta was a kind and generous contributor to the business. John was living in Encino, CA at the time. I bought this suit among a few other items to include in my mobile museum tours, and this has been part of my vast collection of celebrity items for over 30 years.

Also included is the original "A Star is Worn" Certificate of Authenticity that reads: "This item, SUIT, is authenticated as having belonged to John Travolta." A copy of the April 3, 1978, TIME Magazine is also included, as well as an image of Jimmy Velvet with the suit. Additionally, a Trovalta signed FDC for the 2012 John Huston stamp is inlcuded. The signed suit jacket is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The suit presents with signs of moderate wear, but no major damage or distresses. Near Mint condition.
