Offered are two 1957 photographs of Elvis Presley playing football in Memphis, along with five later prints of photos from the same day. Elvis played a bit of football while in high school, but it was afterwards, when he was in the infancy of his fame, that he purchased a ticket for every Humes High School student to attend the E.H. Crump Memorial football game in November 1956. Just a month later, after the release of his first movie Love Me Tender, Elvis took a day off right after Christmas to play a round of touch football with friends at the Dave Wells Community Center in Memphis on December 27, 1956. The offered photos are from that day taken by a fan named Brenda whose aunt lived near the field and would call her when Elvis and his friends showed up to play. The two original photos have the handwritten notation on the reverse that says "Elvis - 1957 Memphis Playing Football" and measure 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. The photos are printed on a matte finish stock, or possibly the finish was stripped off during a restoration or cleaning process. Very Good condition.
