The offered 1971 "Rainy Days and Mondays" 45 RPM single has been signed on the label by Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter. The siblings signed simply "Karen" and "Richard" on either side of the printed band name "Carpenters" to use that as the last name of their signatures--cute. The single was one of three hits off of the band's eponymous 1971 album, along with "For All We Know" and "Superstar," and while "Rainy Days and Mondays" could only reach number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it did top the Adult Contemporary charts.

During their 14 year career, the Carpenters had three number-one singles and five number-two singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and fifteen number-one hits on the Adult Contemporary chart, in addition to twelve top-10 singles. They have sold more than 90 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Karen's tragic early passing makes her signature tough to come by, and to find it on the label of one the Carpenters defining hits is exceedingly rare. The signed 45 is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The record measures 7 inches in diameter, comes with its original sleeve and presents in well-played condition, with some wear to the label. Excellent condition.
