The offered personal check is signed by actress and legendary actress Mae West. The personal check was for $250.50 and endorsed by West on September 22, 1938, to one "Beverly Baikoff." Beverly was Mae's sister. Mae West was one of the most controversial movie stars of her day, and she was often the target of censors because of her sex symbol status. She once quipped, "I believe in censorship. I made a fortune out of it." She bucked the system by making comedy out of conventional mores, and her Depression-era audience admired her for it. Her career spanned over 70 years, from vaudeville to Broadway to Hollywood to television. Her classic films include I'm No Angel, Go West, Young Man, My Little Chikadee and She Done Him Wrong. Accompanied by a COA from Beckett Authentic. The check measures 8 5/8 x 3 inches and presents with tape residue along the left side. Gorgeous large signature. Excellent condition.
