Offered is a convergence of icons in an original airbrush painting by noted artist Dave Willardson fo rChuck Berry's 1973 LP Chuck Berry's Golden Decade Vol. 2. The work, airbrushed guache on illustration board, is entitled “Coke Glass,” and creates a vortex of two icons in American culture. Chuck must have loved this art at every level, phallic and otherwise. Willardson has signed the artwork in the lower right corner. Since the 1980s, Dave Willardson has been a world-renown Disney artist, creating original works of characters from the Magic Kingdom pantheon. But starting in the mid-1960s, Willardson created more than 150 original paintings for album covers, some reaching iconic status, such as Richie Blackmore's Rainbow, the American Graffiti soundtrack LP and Motely Crue's Theatre of Pain. He also designed the famous Rolling Stone cover from the August 15, 1974 and created the original logo for the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie poster. Accompanying the artwork is a copy of the original LP, and there is also a cover of the LP cover mounted on the reverse of the frame, for reference. The painting measures 18 x 18 inches and is framed to a size of 24 x 24 inches. Near Mint to Mint condition.
