During Elvis’ wildly successful and well attended performances in Las Vegas, the Colonel and RCA were keen to capitalize on any opportunity to advertise upcoming events, new record releases and anything relating to their main attraction. An ideal way to efficiently cross-market was to use concert advertising to promote Elvis’ musical catalog with RCA, and the offered banner does just that, encouraging concert attendees to “Hear Elvis on RCA Records & Tapes.” This exceptional example of concert marketing contains bold red letters made of multiple circles that proclaim “Elvis” above a black-and-white depiction of a singing Elvis against a blue background also touting Elvis’ “In Person” appearance “Now.”

This bright, bold format was a popular marketing style in the early 1970s that grabbed the attention of the viewer, surely advantageous in the city of lights. The unusual heraldic-shaped banner contains upper corner grommets from which to hang the extraordinary promotion. The canvas banner measures 41 by 27 inches and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated (quoted here). The banner presents with moderate scuffing and scratches, and has lost a good deal of its silkscreened ink. Very Good condition.
