Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for the funk band Cameo's 1980 LP Cameosis. Cameosis reached number one on the R&B album charts and number twenty five on the Billboard 200 album charts. The two singles, "We're Goin' Out Tonight" and "Shake Your Pants," drove sales of the record. The LP was certified Gold on July 17, 1980, and the offered copy of the award was given to an industry marketing executive involved in the promotion. The plaque on the award reads "Presented to Polygram Distribution, Inc. to Commemorate the Sale of More than 500,000 Copies of the Chocolate CIty/Polygram Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Cameosis.'" The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with heavy wear from poor storage, with damage to the frame. Very Good to Excellent condition.
