Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for The Beatles 1968 single "Hey Jude." This copy of the award has a plaque that reads "Presented to THE BEATLES to Commemorate the Sale of More than One Million Copies of the APPLE RECORDS Pop Single Record 'Hey Jude'". The single was released on August 26, 1968, and it was certified gold on September 13, 1968, just 18 days later. This early white linen matte style award was created at that time. The single was the Beatles' first release on their Apple record label and one of the "First Four" singles by Apple's roster of artists, marking the label's public launch. "Hey Jude" was a number-one hit in many countries around the world and became the year's top-selling single in the UK, the US, Australia and Canada. Its nine-week run at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 tied the all-time record in 1968 for the longest run at the top of the US charts, a record it held for nine years. The award measures 13 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches and presents with minor wear to the wooden frame and some very mild toning to the white matte area. Near Mint condition.
