Offrered is an RIAA Platinum Record Award for the 1983 Soundtrack for the film Staying Alive, starring John Travolta. The soundtrack album was released in 1983 and is performed mainly by the Bee Gees. Five new Bee Gees songs took up the first side, with side two featuring various artists performing songs mostly written by Frank Stallone, brother of the film's director Sylvester Stallone. The soudntrack was certified Platinum by August 30, 1983, and the offered copy of the award was given to an industry marketing executive involved in the promotion. The plaque on the award reads "Presented to Polygram Records, Inc. to Commemorate the Sale of More than 1,000,000 Copies of the RSO/Polygram Long-Playing Record Album 'Staying Alive.'" The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with heavy wear from poor storage, with damage to the frame and distress to the plexigalss. Very Good to Excellent condition.
