Offered is Senator John F. Kennedy "U.S. Senate" Large Wooden Seal with its original "United States Senate" inventory record on the reverse. The 18-inch seal would have graced the walls of Senator Kennedy's office and been used on the front of lecterns during certain public appearances in his public office duties. The Senate inventory record on the back indicates it was recorded on April 19, 1960, a day when the Presidential hopeful was tirelessly campaigning in West Virginia ahead of that state?s critical May 10 Democratic presidential primary. He delivered two notable speeches that day:

In the morning/early afternoon at Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia, where he spoke on the American economy and criticized the Eisenhower administration for failing to provide adequately for those in need. Later in the day in Wheeling, where he gave a strong address titled ?West Virginia: The State Which the Pentagon Forgot,? attacking the federal government for neglecting the state on defense contracts and economic aid. This was part of JFK?s intense effort to prove his electability in a heavily Protestant state and overcome concerns about his Catholic faith during the 1960 presidential campaign.

The wooden seal shows moderate wear from age but is totally intact. A handwritten not on the inventory slip indicates it was "Taken 5/9/65." Excellent condition.
