Offered is an incredible artifact from the earliest days of Elvis Presley's career--an original concert poster for Elvis' concert on February 6, 1955, at Memphis' North Hall Auditorium. The letter press style poster is a perfect example of the design of the era for concerts, and there may be only five or six of these posters known. All the other known examples reside in advanced collections and are unlikely to ever become available. Though he has experienced a good bit of local and even regional success at this point, Elvis is still WAY down the bill, below such established acts as Faron Young, Martha Carson, Ferlin Huskey and The Wilburn Brothers. A month before the concert, Elvis had released his third Sun single, "Milkcow Blues Boogie" / "You're a Heartbreaker", and he was certainly on the rise.

His ascent had already caught the eye of one Colonel Tom Parker, and on the very same day as this show, Parker had his historic meeting with Sun Records owner Sam Phillips and Elvis' manager Bob Neal at the restaurant across from the auditorium where the topic of selling Elvis' contract with Sun to RCA was breached for the first time. Nothing was settled at that meeting, but it was the first domino that led to the sale to RCA.

The poster has suffered significant damage and has been trimmed on both sides from its original 13 3/4 inches. Measures 12 x 22 inches. Other distresses include water damage, fold marks, glue and tape stains. Poor condition, but and excellent opportunity to own an Elvis relic that in any other condition would be tens of thousands of dollars!
