Offered is an historically important document from the nascent days of Elvis' ascent to superstardom in not only popular music, but also television and film. This is Elvis Presley's FIRST Screen Actors Guild Contract, signed and initialed by Elvis on January 31, 1955. Before he was an official member of the Screen Actors Guild, Elvis was signing an agreement with William Morris Agency to represent him in the entertainment industry, and the offered contract made it possible for the firm to be his Agent. His career was in full flight, having signed with RCA at the end of November 1955, just two months earlier, already had his first records released in December (the five Sun singles now on the RCA label, and went into the RCA Studios in New York to do his first official recording sessions. But within less than two months of signing this agreement, Elvis had his first screen test with Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, and the rest, as they say, is history. The contract is framed to 38 x 32 inches, with several period photographs of Elvis on the set of The Ed Sullivan Show and filming Love Me Tender.
