From a 1976-86 Topps, Fleer and Donruss Vending Collection
This offering emanates from a recently-unearthed Major Vending Collection from the estate of a Midwestern Card Dealer. The dealer was active in the hobby from the 1960s to the mid-1990s, and his large holdings remained quietly in storage for more than thirty years after his passing. These circumstances contributed to the amazing condition quality of the cards from this collection. Stunning gloss, brilliant colors, impeccable surface quality--and that vending-fresh curve--dominate. The cards were only minimally handled, with the vending cases purchased from Topps, Fleer and Donruss emptied of their 500-count boxes, and those, in turn, emptied into 800-count card boxes by the dealer. That's the state in which we found the collection, almost mid-sort, as our man would have been building sets and sorting issues into numbered boxes for sale at shows, and in hobby publication ads.
The graded singles and groups that follow these bulk lots were extracted for PSA-grading, and can certainly be considered at least somewhat representative of the condition of a great number of the cards in each issue. Some issues were searched more heavily than others, and we make an effort in our descriptions above to give an accurate reading on those circumstances. Regardless, there is much, much more work to be done on these massive holdings by the winning bidders! In some cases, it was apparent that wax boxes/cases were also broken down for some issues, and we do make an effort to indicate this where applicable. Enjoy!
