Offered is an incredible artifact: Elvis Presley's Signed Prototype for his Aloha Jumpsuit Stage Belt with Provenance from Designer Bill Belew. Bill created this prototype to specifically show Elvis what the Eagle ornaments would look like against the white leather of the belt. The final version was more heavily adorned with Belew's signature look and feel involving more studs and rhinestones. On the interior of the belt Bill wrote "Elvis this samples off eagles I'll use. Ok with you. Bill" Just below that is penned "OK" and "Elvis".

This belt and its iconic jumpsuit were created specifically for Elvis' Hawaiian concerts that would become his groundbreaking TV special, Elvis Aloha from Hawaii. Fans from around the globe watched as the singing phenomenon from Memphis known the world over as Elvis took the stage at the Honolulu International Center on January 14, 1973 and said “Aloha” to the world. This famed concert aired via satellite in over 40 countries in Europe and Asia (airing at a later date in the U.S.) and was not only the most expensive entertainment special of its time, costing approximately $2.5 million to produce, but also one of Elvis’ most triumphant moments on stage.

The accompanying letter from Joe Esposito reads: "I served Elvis Aaron Presley as his personal confidant, Road Manager, co-best man at his wedding, and in a variety of other capacities from 1960 until his death on August 16, 1977.

This American Eagle white leather prototype stage belt was custom made by Bill Belew for Elvis Presley. Elvis had wanted his stage wear for the satellite show to represent America. The American Eagle ornaments were chosen by Bill and installed on the belt. The belt was hand delivered to Elvis for his approval while in Los Angeles.

After trying on the belt and carefully inspecting the buckles, Elvis signed "OK" on the inside of the belt and sent it back to Bill Belew so that the rest of the ensemble could be completed."

The belt is full size measuring 37 in length, with moderate wear and slight toning from age. The main buckle area measures 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches. Excellent condition.
