Offered is an incredible relic rarely seen in such a complete state: Elvis Presley's Full U.S. Army Uniform given by Elvis to G.I. Blues Director Norman Taurog. The uniform includes his jacket, trousers, hat, shirt, necktie and even his shoes! The jacket bears insignia at the upper left shoulder and pins at the left breast. A tan short-sleeve shirt also has insignia patches at the upper sleeve. Presley gave the uniform to director Norman Taurog by Presley upon the completion of G.I. Blues in 1960. The accompanying letter from Taurog's son, Jonathan Taurog, reads:
"My name is Jonathan Taurog and my father Norman Taurog was an Academy Award winning director. Both he and I met Elvis for the first time in 1960 when Elvis began filming 'G.I. Blues.' My father directed Elvis in nine films. Over the years they shared a mutual respect for one another and a friendship that would last for the rest of their lives. They often exchanged gifts. In fact Elvis and my family were neighbors in Palm Springs.
One of the first gifts Elvis gave my father was his full dress Army uniform. He did this upon the completion of 'G.I. Blues' saying, 'I won't be needing this anymore!'"
The uniform is remarkably well-preserved, with little wear except to the pants, which is only moderate. Stunning Near Mint condition.
