Offered is Elvis Presley's Shelby County Deputy Sheriff Badge Given to his bodyguard Dave Hebler. Elvis' fascination with law enforcement is legendary, and his collection of badges given to him from various law enforcement agencies is well-known. Elvis would often get jurisdictions to give him his own badges, either in Memphis or anywhere in the country, but the Shelby County badges were dearest to his heart. 

Hebler's accompanying letter reads: "My name is Dave Hebler and for a number of years I was Elvis Presley's personal bodyguard. As many people know, Elvis was very fond of police agencies and acquired a number of "positions" with some of these agencies. He prized highly the various documents and badges that he received as part and parcel of these "positions".

One day in 1974-1975 or there abouts, we were at Graceland in Memphis when Elvis called me up to his room. When I arrived he handed me a 'Special Deputy-Shelby County badge ID. #251' and said 'Here you go Dave, this badge is yours.' I have had that badge in my possession since that day."

The original leather badge wallet has a permanent impression of the badge in it. The badge is well-worn, as is to be expected from being carried by Elvis and later Dave all the time. Excellent condition.
