Offered is wonderful Archive from Songwriter Hazel Shade which includes her original manuscript for Elvis Presley's “Show Me Thy Ways, O Lord." Elvis recorded the song during now famous set of home recordings from 1966. Elvis' version of the song from that session appeared on the 1999 LP The Home Recordings, and that same year as part of the box set Peace in the Valley: The Complete Gospel Recordings. In 2012, Hazel Shade was inducted into the Dayton (OH) Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and her induction letter and plaque are included with the collection.
Also included is Hazel's manuscript for a second song that was pitched to Elvis via his song publishers, "His Grace is Sufficient." There is a note in the margin recording her attempt to pitch to Elvis' direct publishing handlers: "Hill & Range Songs Inc. 5/31/62".
The group of documents is a fascinating glimpse into the process that put songs in front of Elvis, a songwriter's dream! Excellent condition overall.
